Sri
Jagatheswara temple is one of the famous Hindu temple. It is in Manamelkudi, a
Taluk headquater, Pudukottai District, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located at a distance
of 60 kms from Pudukottai and around 450 kms towards south from Chennai (old name
Madras), the capital of Tamil Nadu, India.
In Ramayana, one of the great epics of India, also we can find the name of
Manamelkudi. It is telling that Lord Rama has tried to cross over the Bay of
Bengal so as to reach Sri Lanka from India from three points along the southeastern
fringe of the Indian coast.
- First, he is said to have tried to cross from Vedaranniyam which is mythologically
called as "Kodiyakkarai"
- Secondly from Manamelkudi and
- Finally he crossed over to Sri Lanka from Rameswaram Island.

Sri Kulachchirai Nayanar, one of the 64 Nayanmars, was born in Manamelkudi. You

The God Siva is known in the name of Sri Jagatheswarar and the Goddess is know
as Sri Jagathratshaki Amman. We can also find Sri Ganesh, Sri DeshnaMoorthy,
Lord Muruga, Navagraham and other sannithis in the temple.

Navarathri, Kulachchirai Nayanar anniversary.
